An ARE is a unit used to measure area. One ARE is equal to one hundred square metres. ONE HUNDRED ARES is equal to a hectare. This wine comes from a planting of ONE HUNDRED ARES of Marsanne and Viognier on the same vineyard that is the source of our NORTH HARCOURT VINEYARD SYRAH. The Marsanne and Viognier grapes were harvested on the same day and whole bunch pressed together. The juice was allowed to settle over night before being transferred to a single new light toast puncheon. The wine was aged on lees without stirring for six months prior to bottling. This wine combines the fine textural qualities of Marsanne with the alluring bouquet of Viognier. Whole bunch pressing, solids fermentation and oak maturation have wrought a wine of intensity, complexity and finesse.

James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2015

Half a tonne of each variety was picked on the same day and, after pressing, the juices were combined in a single, new, light toast puncheon for fermentation and 6 months’ maturation; it has excellent texture, and (the power of suggestion?) there are flavours of honeysuckle, apricot and spice. 94 Points
