Acidity: 6.8 g/l
Deep copper with green highlights. Luscious buttery caramel, lingering acidity and then long, nutty, rancio flavours. Try with vanilla ice cream, dried fruit and strong hard cheeses. As a barrel matured tawny, it can be enjoyed for some weeks after opening.
“Certainly no shortage of lift here with a bit of a nostril singeing kick off, then into a slightly dusty, but very complex wine. Orange peel, rancio, brittle toffee/praline, spice, raisins and hazelnuts, etc. etc. It’s thick, sweet, viscous and palate-saturating – a tiny sip ripples out like a stone hitting a pond – intense acidity gives freshness, and the length is phenomenal. Packed with character. I think it’s outstanding. Drink 2017-2020+”
